The TaF Gazette

The TaF Gazette is being set up as our way of keeping Tavi & Friends' Volunteers upsated on what's going on. Many of you thought this might be a good way to keep in touch, so we'll give it a try. Along with updates, we welcome your input and apropos information that you want to share with all our volunteers; just let us know and we'll post. Let us know how it works, suggestions for improving, etc. Thanks!

We had the first Tavi & Friends' Animal Wellness Fair & Fundraiser on Long Island this weekend!

Despite our best efforts in getting the word out, we had stiff competition from the Nassau Pet Expo and Mother Nature! The weather held out, cloudy and gloomy, but no rain. Also, the animal communicator who was to come cancelled that morning (illness) so that was a big loss as she was also scheduled for Reiki, Pet Psychic, Bach Flower Essences.

We still had a decent turnout, all considered, and some animals were adopted but have also identified some areas that will need tweaking for future events. Such as, we need a bigger "presence" and need to feature ourselves and what we do in a more prominent way; to have additional practitioners providing services, rather than relying on one person with a lot of services; featuring our services more prominently and having a TTouch table just for demo-ing and answering questions about TaF.

We had some wonderful raffle gifts donated. One of the highlights was the winner of the KittyWalk System pet stroller: a sweet little dog who lost both eyes, has many health issues, can't walk... so this was the perfect pet owner and dog to win this gift! They were thrilled!

The next event is scheduled in Central Park on Saturday, October 10, where we will have two Tavi & Friends Wellness Tents, to kick off the NY Week for the Animals, and are being folded into the big ASPCA event. We can't fully confirm at this point as the permits are not final, but expect all should be well and we'll let you know as soon as finalized.

Organization News

I am meeting with Alissa at Ollie's Place tonight to give her a better idea of what TaF does, as well as to begin talking about a partnership with Ollie's. TaF will branch out to incorporate the smaller groups into our partnering circle. While I am still working with the AC&C to incorporate into their enrichment and compassion programs, there are still obstacles to overcome so that is an ongoing work-in-progress.
